Welcome to Gourmage!
Cheese, Chocolate, Wine and Gourmet Goods
(And we do lunch too!)
CHEESE
General Charles de Gaulle once asked, “How does one govern a country that has 246 varieties of cheese?” He was only referring to the official versions, as France alone has approximately one thousand distinct cheeses. Then there’s Italy, the UK, the US, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland to contend with, to name just a few.

That’s where we come in. At Gourmage you not only have the opportunity to taste a few cheeses before making your selection, we encourage it. After all, how else will you know the difference between a Saint Albray (pungent) and a Saint Andre (buttery)?

Our artisanal cheese selection means that we are experts at cheese platters. It also means that we make a mean Cheese Cake: yes, cakes made from wheels of cheese!

CHOCOLATE
While our focus is on the many cheeses available here at Gourmage, we also carry a variety of handmade chocolates. On any given day, you may find truffles, almond toffee bars, turtles and more.
WINE
We offer wine by-the-glass and bottles to-go. We also do a wine tasting on Friday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. - occasionally we have live music too, so you can come and have a glass of wine and maybe a small cheese platter or a cold shrimp cocktail.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
We also offer a variety of cheese, chocolate and wine accessories, as well as other retail items. We carry lots of cheese boards (granite, wood), the very popular line of Lolita wine glasses (glass and acrylic), lots of wine accessories, aprons (some custom-made for us), cookbooks, ceramic serving pieces, picnic bags, and more.

OTHER GOURMET GOODIES
Here at Gourmage, we also make our own marshmallows, ice cream, bacon jam, salad dressings, and more — and we have a salt and sugar bar.

LET'S DO LUNCH
We serve a light lunch from 11 to 2, and make everything we can from scratch.

WHERE ARE WE?
Gourmage is about 40 miles south of Austin, and approximately 30 miles north of San Antonio. We are the only cheese between Austin and the Border, which makes us the only cheese shop in South Texas. So if you’re ever traveling around the San Antonio area, or to New Braunfels proper, stop by and see us — you’ll be glad you did.
